What is Fable?

Featuring a beautifully vibrant open-world, Fable is a stunning reboot of the beloved franchise. Become the Hero you want to be and return to Albion, where each choice shapes your journey, reputation is everything, and fairytale endings are never guaranteed.

Fable returns in a stunning reboot of a beloved franchise. As the first Hero in a generation, explore a living Albion filled with peculiar characters, dark humour, and chickens... lots of chickens. This isn’t just nostalgia — it’s a new beginning set in a beautifully vibrant open world, with enough British wit to make your mum blush.

BE THE HERO YOU WANT TO BE

Create your own unique Hero and wield powerful weapons as you dynamically weave melee, ranged, and magical combat. Take on bandits, beasts, and creatures pulled straight from British folklore — including brand-new enemies and fan-favorites like Hobbes, Balverines, and Trolls. Your power grows right alongside your reputation. And let’s be honest, sometimes being feared is just more fun.

BUILD AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE

Beyond all the combat lies a world that never stops turning. Get filthy rich as a landlord or blacksmith, romance a villager (or three — we’re not judging), have a bunch of kids, and watch as your reputation precedes you. Being a Hero is a bit like being a celebrity… if celebrities carried swords and occasionally battled giant fire-breathing chickens.

In Albion, a Hero’s reputation is everything. Your noble deeds and questionable decisions affect your relationship with each townsperson and have the potential to shape the world around you. Who is developing Fable?

We’re Playground Games! Known for creating the beautiful, immersive open-world Forza Horizon series. Don’t panic car fans, Forza Horizon isn’t going anywhere; the Fable team is an entirely separate team of passionate developers who share a deep love of Fable, and a burning desire to bring it back.

When is Fable launching?

Fable will launch in Autumn 2026

What Platforms will Fable be on?

Fable will be available at launch on Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, Steam and PlayStation 5

Will there be character customisation?

Absolutely! We want you to play as the Hero you want to be, and that starts with character customisation. You’ll be able to choose how your character looks in the character creation process, selecting different heads, hair styles, skin tones and more.

Will there be multiplayer?

No, Fable is a single player open-world action-RPG.

Is this a continuation of the original Fable trilogy?

No. Though the game we’re making is very much faithful to the spirit of the classic Lionhead trilogy, Fable is a new beginning for the Fable franchise and isn’t a continuation of the original games.

Is Fable still set in Albion?

Yes, Fable is set in the fully open world of Albion with reimagined locations for you to explore and inhabitants for you to meet.

Will moral choices still play a key role in the game?

Yes. Fable is and has always been about moral choices and the consequences that follow. They will play an important role throughout the game.
